There WAS a plan

Sometimes plans have a way of taking on a life of their own. We just gotta hang on. Also, coffee.

This is one of those posts that I'm not sure I should even write. There's been a lot of those as of late. In fact, if you were to dive into the drafts of KataNerd you would find 30 ideas just sitting in digital limbo. Some of them just a title and then meaningless splashes …

Three Years: An Eye-blink and an Eon

On May 23, 2020May 23, 2020 By CorwinIn Adventure, Because I Want To, Blog2 Comments

I moved to Madison three years ago. We were moving for my wife. She was a resident at UW Health and rocking out on the start of an awesome career. I was ready for whatever the next few years would bring, and had the feeling everything was only going up. I was right. And I …

San Antonio, you're beautiful This past week was literally the single most writerly thing I have ever done. I was at a conference with THOUSANDS of other writers. That's right, thousands. That's more than I have ever hung out with before by several factors of 10. I was there as the "Community Manager" of Bending …

Travel Thoughts

Three weeks ago (I think) I was in the Toronto airport at something like 5 AM to catch a flight that I had been booted off of the night before due to too many people being on the plane. Not because I was misbehaving, or anything like that. But, during this groggy, somewhat hazy experience, …

Working on new katas and trying different things. Thanks for all the love this weekend, friends :-) it meant a lot!
That photo is me, feeling very much like Batman, sparring in a testing for my next belt. I remember thinking I was pretty good 😂
This was supposed to be a “go easy” event. It ended up with a first in Traditional Weapons and then winning the Overall Grands for 30+.
Happy Valentines Day to the most glamorous lady I know. From weddings, to bookshops, and every random coffee stop in between - there’s no other human I’d want to be with ❤️💖💕
I met Grandmaster Likes when I was 11. Over the course of 23 years we traveled the world, competed at the highest levels, and he was my center Jude countless times - in tournaments where I excelled, and where I didn’t (he was always sure to let me know).
I don’t post much about wins or tournaments - but this one felt good. Thanks to everyone for all the love, high-fives and support throughout the weekend. You’re ALL the real MVP’s ❤️
Between injuries, Covid, work, and everything in-between it’s been hard to get the time to train. Or even WANT to train.
2022 was a YEAR - getting engaged, weddings, travel, graduations, promotions, and far more than I can possibly include in one post. To everyone that has been there for the late nights, early mornings, 2am airport runs, and on the mats all over the world. THANK YOU!
Obligatory travel selfie
2 years down, at least 2 more to go 🙃
Not bad for the first time back on the mats - thanks to everyone who cheered, shouted, and generally made the weekend amazing!
It’s your birthday! So, basically the best day of the year! Make sure to give @bitchypritchie lots of love today, 31 has never looked so good!
